Experience night time Glen Innes like you have never seen it before.

Over four nights, take a journey through the heart of Glen Innes, and Maybury Reserve along a flax-lined pathway surrounded by thousands of sparkling fairylights.  This leads to 24 light pieces including jellyfish, kissing deer, kiwis, diving dolphins, fireflys, waterfall and lots of magical scenes of New Zealand imagery. 

This event revives the tradition of giving thanks for the harvest - and celebrating and preparing for the New Year planting season.

The lights are turned on at 6pm and it’s a great free activity for all ages. 

The Light Trail starts from Te Oro Music and Arts Centre. No entry fee. The light trail is open every night, rain or shine until 9pm. It operates in a one way anti clock wise direction and the trail can be entered from any one of four entry points, 

The final night will close at 9.00pm with the Glen Innes PAK'nSave fireworks spectacular 'Te Ara Rama Matariki' choreographed to traditional and contemporary music.

The public are encouraged to dress warm in layered clothing and wear comfortable walking shoes. Train and bus hub is 2 minutes walk. Toilets are available. Parking will be at a premiun so options include parking in the village shopping centre next to MacDonalds or off Taniwha St. The Light Trail is 2 minutes walk from the village shopping centre.

Location: 98 Line Road, Maybury Park, Glen Innes. The Light Trail starts at Te Oro Music & Arts Centre for Youth. We encourage Glen Innes, Pt England, Panmure and St John’s residents within 2klms to walk to the park.
